I really enjoyed this book. I thought the plot was very unique and fresh.I liked watching the transformation of Miranda - from spoiled society snob to a loving, giving woman. And Fox was just perfect from the get go.
This book had everything I like in a HR; humor, drama without too much angst, excellent supporting characters and hot, steamy love scenes!
I am looking forward to reading tech rest of these series.

I love regency romances! I've read several of this author's books and liked them. This was a great book. The premise was mildly intriguing - beautiful, rich debutante is packed off to her country cousins as punishment for risqué behavior, only to meet a dashing highwayman and a handsome orphanage owner. The heroine, Lady Miranda Holborn, was compelling - beautiful and kind, if initially immature. The hero, Mr Montgomery Foxcroft, was very compelling - handsome and loyal. They had good chemistry. The storyline was complex and entertaining. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to reading Jasper's story!
Lady Miranda Sinclair lives to break the rules, Her wicked ways result in her being exiled in the rustic country and a prisoner of her temporary guardians. On the very night she is to begin her exile, their entourage is robbed by a masked highwayman. The price is a kiss.
Montgomery Foxcroft has more responsibility than the funds in his coffers. Barely making ends meet to cover the upkeep of his estate and the orphanage, which is the centuries old legacy of his ancestors, he leads a double life.
I love the characters of Lady Miranda and Fox in this book. Watching Lady Miranda mature, learn the value of hard work, and what it means to put the needs of others before herself was heartwarming. Darcy Burke has created another memorable couple worth championing. I actually read the Regency Treasure Hunters Series first and was delighted to get to read the story of the characters I was introduced to there. There is scandal, romance, and corruption. I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book, His Wicked Heart, featuring Jasper Sinclair.

This is a story of a non titled gentleman, who oversee a four year old orphanage that has been under his family's care. His home begin during the Tudor Reign, with 200o acres. However, he has to go through desperate means to keep a roof over the children's heads. That is how he meets Lady Miranda. She is being sent to the countryside as punishment for misbehavior in London, and nothing she does, can please her parents, The Duke and Duchess. Fox may not have a title, but ,he is incredibly handsome, kind, gentle, and passionate about Miranda. No matter what he does or has, or is as a human being, will make him good enough for her parents, and she seems to agree with them. What will happen to cause her to see things his way, or will she learn when it is too late? I highly recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!
When you dislike the h through most of the book it is hard to feel a connection. What saved her for me was at times, the new Miranda would appear and I would change my opinion of her. Then she'd slip back to being a spoiled, arrogant brat.
I enjoyed the interaction with the orphans and of course the H. Oh what a hero he is! It was hard to believe such a caring man could be so engrossed in his affection for the h.
What I found enticing was the scene in the brothel where they watch a couple. Probably one of the most turn on scenes described.
When they finally make love, it felt passionate and just mildly described and outside marriage.
There isn't a cliffhanger for our couple, but the next story is about her brother who I adored in this story. The journey to HEA was certainly not smooth, but worth watching it unfold. I did enjoy the epilogue a few months in the future. (ljb)
This is a five star read for me in the story, characters, and settings. This was different than one of the usual reads, definitely not just the spoiled rich girl who just needed marriage, this spoiled rich girl had lessons to learn and who better than Fox. Fox isn't your average dandy who all the women run after although maybe in the looks department. Fox, is a man with a deep respect of heritage, but will the spoiled rich girl love him for who he is and will her father let her marry a man with property but without money! I enjoyed finding out everything about this spoiled girl and especially the many different facets of Fox. Get this you will enjoy it.

But this imprisonment starts out with quite a bit of excitement. En route, her group is set upon by a highwayman. Having no money, Miranda offers a kiss. A glorious kiss like she’s never known! When she begins her charity work at the local orphanage, she meets the owner, a man equally as tempting as her sexy highwayman.
Montgomery Foxcroft, “Fox”, is desperately trying to keep his estate and orphanage running after his father gambled away their money. To do so, he’s had to turn to being a highwayman just to keep the orphanage afloat. Lady Miranda’s dowry could be the answer to his prayers. Not only is she rich and beautiful, but Fox is drawn to her in ways he hasn’t felt for a long time. But Miranda turns him down. Can he press her into marriage or must he risk resorting to his highwayman ways?
I loved this story. My first read by author Darcy Burke. I am hooked! Fox is my new dream man. He’s not a spoiled duke but a working man committed to helping his tenants and the children at his orphanage.
Miranda starts out being a spoiled London brat but as she spends time with the children, she begins to change. No longer does the social life she grew up in matter as much as helping Fox save his home.
This story is filled with passion, humor, and adventure. You won’t be disappointed.
